On second thought—the Shadow Circus started targeting McBell before she became a clown. Sure, Echo’s never seen her like this in person before, but the Circus probably passed some photos around at some point, right?
Look, Mags… do you really feel like doing this now? Really? Hasn’t this night been long enough for you at this point? Don’t you kinda have enough to process here as is?
Also, frankly, won’t you risk losing the audience if you skip straight to the final fight after all of this emotionally heavy nonsense? Just saying. I’d be worried about the pacing if I was you.
– Mcbell just got done challenging Echo/saving Mustard over the answering machine. I wonder if she’ll recognise that.
– Echo has to recognise there’s not enough time in the chapter for a showdown between her and Mcbell, right?
So are they just gonna talk? Are we gonna learn why Echo was spying on Mcbell at the mall?
So, this doesn’t look good, but I just discovered that I somehow completely missed Echo getting blasted away by the confetti cannon (and you know, not killing Mustard), so I’m actually feeling pretty happy right now.
unfortunately for echo, mcbell is currently in the ‘refusal of the call’ phase, so there’s no way that this will be a narratively conclusive fight, if there’s a fight at all.
Nah. She already Jumped At The Call back at the end of Chapter 4, remember? That said, we’re still way too early for the Supreme Ordeal/Encounter With Death. As Maggie is no doubt aware.
Wow, that’s convenient… For her at least, really stinks for McBell.
Oh. Oh no.
Can’t say I saw this one coming.
Uh Oh
can’t wait for the next panel where it shows mcbell doing an even bigger, even scarier smile
uh oh
O.o
I know that we’re now in a sudden and surprising scene full of potential peril BUT her fangs are hot. bite bite bite
this is true and its right that you said it
So glad I’m not the only one that thought this
I have a type, and that type is fangs
Anne Rice, Buffy, and Twilight really did a number on a whole generation, didn’t they?
… In this case it might’ve been Tim Curry’s Pennywise from the It miniseries.
Now Bout needs to come in with the confetti cannon the auction clowns were holding so that Maggie can take a family business round trip
“Of all the sidewalks in all the streets in all of Pinfall, she confetties into mine.”
Somewhere in Pinfall, a dentist has spontaneously manifested dollar signs in their eyes.
Stitch: “Hi.“
NO BUT LIKE
MCBELL AINT GOT HER MAKEUP ON
MAYBE, JUST MAYBE ECHO DOESN’T RECOGNIZE HER
Good point.
On second thought—the Shadow Circus started targeting McBell before she became a clown. Sure, Echo’s never seen her like this in person before, but the Circus probably passed some photos around at some point, right?
I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
“Hey lady, did you see a blue haired bimbo in grease paint pass by?”
“Uh… she went that way.”
“Thanks stranger!”
Nah, this is a predatory grin if I ever saw one…
That smile… that damn smile.
That smile reads to me as: “I’m good! You good? Everything’s FINE, right, nothing to see here.”
But, fangs, so maybe that’s not the intent.
She does look like the cat that — if it hasn’t caught the canary — is definitely canary-adjacent.
McBell: “The mime talks now?!?”
“The mime talks now.”
Standard insanity for a line in Clown Corps: “so then the mime said to me…”
Consider the alt text for chapter 4 p 9 as foreshadowing.
Welllll shieeeeeeeeeeeet
awkwardly convenient
Immunity to damage, unflappable sense of humor, spontaneous facial mutations… is Maggie mutating into a cartoon character?
Are you saying that she hasn’t been this entire time?
She’s not immune to damage, the confetti canon is just meant to not hurt its target.
Current Alt Text for mobile: “James is between jobs right now, he should really consider this. And to answer your question: shuttle bus.”
Err… which question is that? Do you mean how McBell is planning to get back to her dorm?
“How do you get back to the start of the line for confetti rides after getting shot” I think is the question.
Yuri moment
ACK!
confetti rides would be pretty fun
but how the fuck did he incapacitate anyone with that stuff
Possibly by knocking his targets into walls?
I love her
Well, it’s not her murder grin.

I dunno. Looks plenty murder-y to me.
And re: the mall, I’m pretty sure Echo was just there eating a burger, man. Why would she spy on Macbeth? She doesn’t need to.
Nah, the murder smile is wide eyed, compare this to echo on page 160. This is like a shark trying to smile but looking creepy in the process.
Echo may not need to spy on mcbell, but I don’t believe she was just getting a burger. She was at the mall because mcbell was, for an unknown reason.
Or she was there because Morgan was.
She was watching Mcbell, though. Not Morgan. (Chapter 6 page 47 for reference)

Funniest possible outcome: McBell doesn’t recognize Echo without the mask
