I love when the turn is telegraphed, and sticks the landing this hard.
As soon as the mayor says “through that door”, there’s only one way that Bout leaves that room. And by jove does he do it.
Ah, I finally understand. While ninjas have “ninjutsu” and wizards have “magic”, the power system of clowns might be understood to be “committing to the bit”.
Everything a clown does is a routine, a gag. Within their routine they can do ANYTHING… but at the end of the day it has to be funny. A joke.
“Hey, didja here about the clown who was told not to leave a room?”
“But ain’t he across the street?”
“Yup. The Mayor specifically said not to open the door.”
“So how’d he get out?”
“He opened the wall instead.”
God I love this comic. And now that I have caught up to it (again), it’s time to put it down for years, only to pick it back up and start from the beginning. Frankly it’s too self-referential to only read one or two pages a week and still get what’s going on
It’s nice to be vindicated-when Magoon got punched through the wall, I called it out as not just fighting style, but ‘Just Punching’ clownery, and something that a Merely Strong person couldn’t replicate.
Nice to know that Bout can punch walls open For The Bit.
Got a bit of the look of his father in that last panel there. Also it’s so nice when you can see something lined up like that.
Also, reminds me, if this hasn’t been brought up, of the Punch and Judy dolls, and I’d bet most would figure out easy which one our boy Bout leans into.
Obviously he does care about his career, otherwise he could have just walk out the door. Arresting such a crooked boss would be tantamount to getting the pink slip.
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAh!!!!1!1!!
HELL YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HE DID IT! HE WENT THROUGH THE WALL!
What’s not to love about the dean?!
I get a big kick out of making a tie flap like a cape. It’s a good effect.
I mean, really, he should be wearing a tie clip. It’s a fancy party, after all. But that would rob us all of the final shot.
fuck yesss

OHHHH BANANA
Of course a rad skateboarer is a school principle’s greatest rival

Oh, you are ON to something!
Oh, definitely.

For what? Attempted corruption? I’m not sure if that’s a thing.
For ordering torture! In abuse of his authority, no less. That is ABSOLUTELY a crime.
And who’s going to fire him, if his boss is arrested? For that matter, does he care more about his career than his duty?
I think we’ve officially hit the point where the law is clearly just a suggestion in Pinfall at best.
