What Ragdoll's doing here is "hanging a lampshade," which is different from the meta crap McBell pulls. Ragdoll runs into the fourth wall on accident, while McBell does it on purpose TO HUMILIATE ME

It’s ok, dude. At least your problem character wants to do things. Mine just wants to lounge around all the time. Now THAT’S embarrassing. Seriously though, reign that McBell in before she jumps out of the computer and pantses you.

Do they, perchance, have a long-term issue regarding giving themselves permission to rest, recover, and unpack what happened before diving into another project?
Because I like it when characters do post-mortem debriefings…

This one didn’t rein in their characters, and now most of them are headmates. (Though that might have been more an accidental chaos magic hypersigil dealie, according to one friend)

McBell is the roadrunner racing into a tunnel and Ragdoll is the coyote slamming into it because it’s just a painting.

(I love how his makeup goes down with the drool. I know this is a comic so makeup smudging doesn’t have to be a thing, but is there a special clown makeup that stays in all conditions, up to and including being slammed with pies, rained on, sprayed with gag flowers, and being buried in snow?

Wait, does Ragdoll use He/Him pronouns? I just assumed they used She or They, but hey, Im on board for this.

Ragdoll can and should pass for any gender pronoun use they look the type that doesn’t fucking care what you use and is only gonna laugh it off and you’ll never really know what’s under those clothes unless you can get those medical records.

You know you can say boy, girl, of genderneutral right?

Also you can just say gender instead of pronouns, I wish I could just edit my comments here.

Ragdoll is they/them! It was mentioned in one of the alt texts around chapter 2 or 3 I believe? I’d go back and find it, but I can’t see them on mobile.

Dude seriously, you can just say genderneutral, it grammatically makes more sense and there’s no feasible way someone could find it offensive.
Also whatever gender they are I assumed they were a girl and found them attractive.

I agree with you that calling a person they/them is odd, but given the limited information available about Ragdoll, gender-neutral also has problems. I believe it’s confirmed that Ragdoll is non-binary, but that’s not necessarily gender-neutral. For example, they could be gender-fluid or demigender.

TL;DR We can say that Ragdoll uses gender-neutral pronouns, but we don’t know how they identify, so calling them gender-neutral may not be accurate.

Absolutely no hate to those who identify that way, but I do think it’s kind of horribly funny that modern Canadians have devised a whole vocabulary for semi-gendered terms instead of just figuring out how to flirt, shop, cook, and join a book club.
Something about how having real boundaries requires having the courage of your convictions, perhaps. Love can be pretty scary! On the other hand, that *is* what makes it exciting. 🙂

Thanks for replying to me, I thought I was gonna get ghosted. Anyway why not just say non-binary or something? I just think using specific pronouns instead of their gender is trying to hard when talking about a character is trying to hard. A large part of this comes from hating woke culture, and before you start throwing accusations at me, no I am not anti progressive. You’re not heroes, just parasites that attach yourselves to anything considered progressive in popular culture and go anywhere from outright lies, to exaggerations or just turning everything into a complete joke, and then demonizing and sabotaging anyone who calls them out, and it’s all just a thinly veiled excuse to hurt people. Sorry if this rant turns out to be unnecessary but I’ve gotten in trouble for speaking against wokesters before, infact I think one of them hacked me.

Was your reply on December the seventh directed to me? The way this comment section is designed makes it somewhat ambiguous. If you are, I just want to make it clear that I did agree with you that it doesn’t make sense to call a person “they/them” because those are pronouns, not an identity. I did call Ragdoll non-binary so we agree on that point as well.

As for the rant, was anything I said offensive to you? I never claimed to be “woke” nor did I claim to be a “hero”. If someone harmed you under the guise of being “progressive” then I’m sorry to hear that. When people try to hurt you online, you don’t need to give them the satisfaction of seeing you hurt.

It “grammatically makes more sense” than… what? Using “they” to refer to one or more people of indeterminate or nonstandard gender, like it’s been used for over six hundred years? Even as linguistic prescriptivist rules go, that one’s incredibly weak and never used… except when people want an excuse not to use the right pronouns for people who use “they/them.”

Also, weren’t you complaining about bringing up politics just a few comics ago, but here you’re starting a political fight about pronouns and gender, because… ???

Actually in real life most clowns use a coat of baby powder on top of their face paint to prevent water damage, some use greasepaint to cut out the middle man.

On an unrelated note, I suspect BB might have a crush on PJ. Of course there’s also a good chance I’m wrong, her body language and enthusiasm might just be being nice.

Honestly I was replying to anyone who would listen / anyone who was in the conversation. As for the woke thing, I don’t think anyone said anything pro woke. I thought I explained this pretty well so I’ll try more plainly this time. There is a huge difference between being woke (is a joke) and being progressive. And I did explain that in my experience whenever I enter a conversation online about something considered progressive like transgender I get hassled for not being “progressive” enough.

A lot of people play status games below the level of consciousness, and paraphrase the most confident-sounding political theory they remember. Then they joke about stuff that makes them uncomfortable.
It can be worthwhile to take a step back, remember that people are Allowed To Be Wrong, that you’re one of those people, and speak from your own experience. Most people will think you’re the cool and interesting sort of weird. 🙂

Oh, heck, first it was “Social Justice Warrior” and now it’s “woke.” The way you’re using it, it’s an incoherent snarl word, a thought-terminating cliche. In its classic sense drawn from AAVE, it *just* means being aware of systemic discrimination and bigotry. So, no, not actually different from being progressive, as you put it.

You keep giving off giant cryptofash red flags, and it’s… honestly worrying as someone fascists literally want dead. Maybe you’re just ignorant and impressionable instead. Hope so, and hope that in the time since these comments, you pulled out of it, instead of getting down to the level where they start convincing you everything is the fault of Jewish people.

Alpha, I’m begging you here, take the political stuff to a political forum and just let us innocent people enjoy the comic.

Someone needs to cut Ragdoll off from the energy drinks
But of course, if they can’t get the cold ones, they’ll just get the room temp ones from their coat
