I think it’s like getting a provisional license in Hero Academia. McBell has completed several missions on her own before school finished, and was given credit for those missions and it all added up to her having passing grades early.

That top row of panels feels like an older trans woman talking to her younger friend who recently came out

My guess is this is a legal loophole. It means McBell isn’t gonna be put in the Computer System, as she’ll technically never become a sophomore. It also gets rid of her being legally forced to be a clown, it would be her choice if she stuck around.

Ah, so he knows about Livewire. Of course he does – dude basically made and wears Mimir on his head at all times.

I knew Bout would be “laying low” for a while, but somehow I didn’t register that he quit the College before McBell brought it up just now. I guess it would be a bit too silly for Burke to be super-literal about his “if you walk out that door…” ultimatum.

Me as well stumbled over “Bout quitting”, but I think that he left school already in order to take the job als Burkes bodyguard. Since it all happened in ONE DAY, he might be allowed to come back, now that he is (probably) unemployed.

Hmm. I’m not convinced. Even if Bout wasn’t planning to return to the College, that would be more like “graduating early” than “quitting”, since the College and the Corps are treated more-or-less as a single entity.

I mean, we just heard about Burke setting rules for what the College can and can’t teach. Do you think he wouldn’t kick up a fuss if he found out that Bout came back to class like nothing happened?

More to the point: people go to the College to become part of the Corps. So if the guy in charge of the Corps has permanently barred you from joining it, what’s the point of continuing at the College?

You’re probably right. So McBell is a regular agent now, Binky, Bout and Mustard (presumably) are out and Bourke is going to give lethal weapons to the clowns.
I am SO exited for the last chapter!

“Completion of the Clown College curriculum” according to chapter 1, page 37. Ordinarily this would mean four years, Mcbell aimed to do it in two. So Squeaky here just cut her best estimate down by one and a half years with a pen-stroke.

I feel like that’s a way to give her a choice. The whole problem here is that McBell never learned to choose for herself what she wants to do or who she wants to be. By cutting her sentence, Squeaky just forced her to choose whether she wants to remain a clown or get out before the ship sinks.

If being a clown meant she could help people, she wanted to be a clown.

Now she has to ask herself: Does it still mean that? Does her best self wear the makeup?

How did I only find this comic today? Well technically yesterday as it is now well past midnight after I read the entire story in one sitting. Worth it though.
Really gave me many good laughs and feels. And now gotta wait for the trickle of new pages to be released.

So sorry- this is going to be hard: There are only two more pages coming up (I wouldn’t call two pages a week “trickle”, compared to other webcomics, but I know what you mean…). Then there will be an undefined hiatus due to acute Coulrofatigue of the author.
I am really dreading the time without CC, but I wouldn’t want Joe to feel pressured into delivering without having his heart in it. This is an exceptional webcomic with my personal top marks for story, humor and art, and it would be sad if the Finale couldn’t keep up the level.

Compared to the archive binge anything would be a trickle, though agreed that two pages a week is a more steady flow than some other webcomics I read.

I expected a hiatus between chapters, no shock there. I just hope the undefined hiatus doesn’t turn into an permanent hiatus as I’ve sadly seen too many good webcomics fall into.

I didn’t really think about it until now but putting it in perspective, that means JUST THIS CHAPTER (nearly 200 pages) has been going on for almost two years. Possibly more, since I think there were some breaks in updates for a bit here and there. Time sneaks up on me sometimes…

This page has so much trans vibes. Not sure if that’s what you were going for, but I feel like I’ve had a brush with a deeper idea. I feel like rereading the entire comic just to look beneath the surface.
