chapter 6 page 198
Three pages to go, up early on patreon!
Also idk if this is an abuse of the description box but I wanted to take a second to plug my instagram. I think having a few more followers on there might encourage me to finally figure out how it works

Have I mentioned that I love Dean Squeaky? Because I think I love Dean Squeaky.
McBell finally realising she’s becoming a whole person and not just surviving
“Specifically ‘blue, red, and yellow’ — it’d throw off the readers if I changed color schemes this late in the game.”
life would be easier if your colors were like my dreams
She could change to black, red and yellow and call herself McBell-gium. A nod to the european heartland of comics. (And fries, btw., since someone mentioned ketchup…)
Is this hinting that McBell will pick a clown name before the chapter ends?
It would not at all surprise me if her clownsona were just “McBell”.
“McBell” would be giving away personal information. “MacBell” is better.
Please don’t be Ketchup, please don’t be Ketchup. Personally hoping for Jacks, as in jack of all trades, but also the game with spiky bits and bouncy ball.
Also a glassblowing tool!
Idk what that has to do with clowning, but they’re neat!
Love the background color shift in the last three panels. Really sells that feeling of epiphany.
Alt text for mobile readers:
Are you sure you’re not just high
to be fair here dean
why would anyone think an institution means something sincerely
much less a person with no real sense of what they want
This is just like
the experience of reading your old writing, universally
you gotta feel for a ward of the state (if i’m reading the backstory stuff right) getting rejected for not having a good idea who she is. the world was literally black and white for her, she was just trying to reach for any color she could find.
HERE’S HOW CORNDOG THE CLOWN CAN STILL WIN
in all seriousness, this is such a nice page. the mustard yellow in the background w/ mcbell’s realization with colors is so sweet
We can all se the colours now, Mcbell. That’s what not being in a flashback does to us.
“But I can see the colors.”
As the background turns to yellow.
I’m smiling like an idiot right now.
Oh. If Mustard had to write one of those, that’d be how Echo learned about Maggie.
