Burke you cannot be surprised that flaky dipshit playboy decided to go on an expensive impulsive vacation instead of doing the job he doesn’t care about
You can maybe be surprised about the Antarctica thing
Would be fun if the next time we see him, he’s toughened up and has a proper real grizzled beard. And maybe a clown girlfriend, since I think that was part of this particular flaking out.
Alex Platt surprising us and the mayor with surprising levels of wisdom.
kinda wanna see the next page just to see if the mayor goes like “yknow what you got a point there, kid”
I think it’s more he hired Gilborn and the rest was of the Shadow Circus to justify Maggie’s abduction and subversion into Echo, especially with the whole ten years part.
However nice the perks may be, people generally don’t go into politics just to have a good time and get their egos stroked. They do it because they want the power to shape the world for the better. The catch, of course, is that their concepts of “the better” can vary enormously…
He certainly is. He’s just, y’know, working hard for and dedicated to himself and his own best interests rather than for and to the best interests of the city itself.
You may be right. “The last ten years” lines up with Maggie’s apparent death a decade ago (see Chapter 6, page 139, panel 4). And we know Detective Soto found some kind of connection between Burke’s office and the Shadow Circus, though we still don’t know what yet (see Chapter 6, pages 72 and 75).
I genuinly am not sure if Burk is so far up his own ass that he honestly thinks he is helping the city(and maybe have even started politics with noble goals but got corrupted), or whether he is just trying to win an argument with Platt Jr. The former is more in line with our world, the latter feels more like Burke. But my gut tells me its the first. Burke has now become the villian, even more then Echo. And even though I dont except him to become sympathetic, I do imagine he is going to become more human even as his antics become more ridiculous.
Joe, the difference between you and Platt Sr. is that you made the clown thing happen. You have fans that enjoy and appreciate the clown thing you’re doing. I know you’re feeling the burnout on Clown Corps. but… don’t think you’re unappreciated for it, okay? You are.
What’s Janice’s deal? She seems kinda cool.
she’s Mayor Burke’s number one gal, as established…
Chapter 5 page 119, Jesus Christ that was May of 2023
sucks to suck lmao

Oh, so true. Honestly I feel a bit silly for not realizing Platt was going to dip until he did.

okay I would not have expected Alexander Platt Jr to come out on top of a verbal exchange but, know what, he has a point

Narrator: He did not.
Are we definitely, 100% sure that Mayor Burke isn’t going to retaliate against Bout? Because he honestly looks a little scary here.
I think this might work out in Bout’s favor, actually. Burke’s so pissed off at Junior, it’s wiped Bout straight out of his mind.
I’d say that the mayor’s being hypocritical, don’t you?
god dammit he better have taken cardigan with him so she gets to see nature’s little gentlemen
Pretty sure that’s her going up the ramp in the 4th panel.
It’s someone with a wooly coat hood and a navy blue cap. Could be anyone.
… Burke helped Gus Gilborn make Echo, didn’t he.
I think it’s more he hired Gilborn and the rest was of the Shadow Circus to justify Maggie’s abduction and subversion into Echo, especially with the whole ten years part.
Wait, does Burke actually think he’s a hardworking, dedicated politician?
I can’t get a read on this guy.

Gus couldn’t have just shown up in the city and gotten to work, right? Someone must’ve been keeping their eye on Maggie…
But is Cardigan having a good time with nature’s little gentlemen??

The last three panels are a metaphor for me making this comic book

If you ask me, more power to Junior.
