“!”, indeed. That clown’s vision must have come back pretty fast.
He said “burglar”, singular, so maybe he only caught one. The not-big guy (whatever his name is) seemed to be the one actually moving the goods, so probably him.
Given the crew’s guilt about ratting McBell out before, I think they’re going to keep their mouths shut this time. How will McBell feel about that? And who will be smart enough to make the connection despite that?
I checked the archives. The not-big guy’s name is Hendrik Vancura. See Chapter 1, pages 1 and 30. The other two are Eliza and Vince, which we found out this chapter.
Also, Eliza definitely wasn’t captured because she already ducked out on page 119.
Well thank you for the misplaced reply. I was also definitely joking about that. She should definitely still kill him and steal the stuff from his grave pyramid Lara Croft style tho. Who’s gonna stop her? The police? In this town? Ha.
I think given her style, she’d just end up living in the pyramid or whatever Burke ends up using to put his riches in. Score! She just needs to game it out.
Heck, just file for divorce on the grounds he didn’t tell her in advance about the will. Make him use up a batch in court and take half of what’s left.
Then kill him once you’re off the suspect list if you want.
They maybe on the outs, but never disrespect Bout’s dad in front of him. Nice to see Bout still on his dad side regardless of the situation. Sometimes experience is the greatest teacher.
Kill him anyways Juniper, it’ll be good karma
I almost hoped the mayor at least got a traumatic brain injury from being dropped by Juniper.
… then I remembered who I was talking about.
She just need to pivot to grave-robbing!

No law saying you can’t dig it up after he’s dead. That’s just free salvage.
It’s only salvage if it’s not supposed to be there. That’s just grave robbing.
Unless it’s an old, foreign tomb. Then it’s archaeology.
It helps to be British too.

There… there very much are laws against that. That is what is generally known as “graverobbing,” and it is, in fact, illegal.
This was meant to be a reply to Sirksome…

She rarely gets punished for her various crimes.

Her expression is priceless
Damn buot is scary badass in this scene. We all might have trouble with our dads but we still love them (assuming they aren’t abusive or anything).
I like this non standard way juniper the black widow is defeated. No need for an ass kicking when her goal is negated.
i feel bad for her
Sue him, Juniper! Deceptive practices! Own the city! Be the real big bad! You actually have a body count! You’ll be way more intimidating than he is!
Also, go Bout!

The divorce is a good plan, because Bout isn’t professionally obligated to put a stop to it
I can’t believe the Mayor defeated Juniper. This completely messes with my power scaling for this ‘verse.
According to the alt-text on page 142, the power scaling for this ‘verse is “jokes”.
Geniall politeness hits a whole lot different when it’s coming from someone you know is capable of a megaton punch.
