Wow. I actually took that billionaire at face value when he said he was buff from denying insurance claims and harvesting the life energy of the dead or whatever he said he did. Instead he was just copying from some other dude. Of course I can’t trust Burke’s word either…..Hmmmm…I don’t know whose lies to not believe!
So the Shadow Circus has been working against Burke (by stealing “his” gun)?!I’m just losing track of how many factions are seeking (even more) power here!
Also: Do now as you please, Juniper…
Sorry, the reply should have been: Even IF Burke was telling the truth, Magoons claim would not be invalid: By denying insurance claims and so killing his victims, sorry, customers, he got enough money for the Strongman-research. It’s no less true, just not as poetic
Love this series and this ain’t a criticism, just a funny thing i noticed.
This makes 3 people with strongman’s abilities. That kinda make it the closest thing to this series’s black flash or kamehameha. Being a technique multiple characters share.
Which makes sense since every bad guy without fighting ability think muscles are the cheat code to fighting ability. Before they get promptly wrecked because they don’t have strongman’s fighting skills.
I love the repeated honing in on the fact that while yes, Strongman’s strength is incredible, his combat training is what turns him from just a menace into an outright threat.
Also, I have to say, Bout’s struggles and development are top notch this chapter. Between these revelations and the fact that he’s really being able to get a win, I’ve got high hopes for his character development going forward. Plus, that jjba strut this latest page is peak.
Agreed. Strong man out of all the villains in this series so far is probably top 3 in personal combat. Only rivaled by the mime with her copycat shenanigans and potentially the hench men if they stopped missing on purpose. There’s a reason strong man was a big threat.
I kinda like how the biggest threat to the clown corps is the mayor, not competent, not a combatant. But the fact he is such a fool that he makes the clowns job that much harder due to sheer Incompetence. Right now the only real external dangers to our heroes are the henchmen, and mime girl. The billionaires in this arc are weaklings in a fight compared to our named mc’s.
It’s mostly our heroes personal problems and organisational strife partly caused by the mayor that’s making so hard for our heroes. Very good mix of internal and external threats for a comedy action drama.
I had not picked up on this being a parallel with Binky’s reputation establishing bout with Strongman, that’s neat.
So this will be Bout’s reputation-establishing binky, then.

Old dude isn’t natty? My disappointment is unmeasurable
I’m seeing a parallel between the Bout/Binky fight we had earlier
And we have the reveal. Burke is DEFINITELY scheming and not just a senile old fool.
I guess the real question is if Bout heard that comment. He is kind of busy.
also possible he’s just assuming burke isn’t going anywhere while wrapped up and is leaving that for later
Okay that explains the strength boost. Talk about a challenge for the young one. Finally.
The swagger of a man who just realised his opponent took shortcuts and almost certainly never learned how to take a hit.

That’s good writing.
