Let’s see, first off this seems more suspicious of Mustard to be a mole, I don’t remember them using Mcbell as mime bait, and I don’t know what school day means here.
im not sure i remember that exact situation either, but if mustards the mole she would have to make sure not to do anything about it on this mission, or Snowqueen would know. like a muder mystery, when everyone splits up into pairs… if one half of a set dies well we know who the killer is now.
OR not only would she have to permanently get rid of PJ and Binky, she’d have to dissapear then too so it looks like they were all wiped out.
“its a school day” = mcbell is busy, and should be! stay in school, kids.
(mustards saying she’ll kick mimes ass if she has to, to keep her away from the kids.)
Letting PJ sleep also has the added benefit of having access to his routine as backup, since if they woke him up he’d just have to fall back asleep if/when stuff hits the fan (is swearing allowed in this comment section?), meanwhile this way he’s already in his sleep state AND if they need him he’s held in reserve to come in and surprise whatever enemies may be giving them trouble.
Also, I don’t think Mustard’s a mole, I think this is legitimately just her disagreeing with Snowqueen about what is and is not an appropriate allocation of resources. As for the whole using Mcbell as mime bait, I think that was a thing discussed as a possible course of action since Mcbell is the only one who is seemingly capable of countering Echo, not something that was already done.
McBell is the only one confirmed able to counter Echo because her “routine” so to speak is improv. But I get the feeling PJ’s routine is one of those unmime-able innate gifts. So he’d actually do pretty well against Echo.
Wait, wasn’t it flat out confirmed that she was improvising? I thought that was the point… Unless you are saying that her routine should be formally *called* improv? In which case, I agree, that would be very fitting.
Oh, you’re the only one? Not bad, after having a gravely wounded dean spending 3 pages explaining exactly that.
Congrats!
(For reference: Chapter 4, pages 96, 97, 98)
But she’s voicing this opinion to a co-worker who also has issues with SQ’s decisions which makes her more relatable and believable. Besides what if she needs him to come alone? It’s a good excuse.

The Mime Bait thing is about how McBell was elevated in privileges specifically as a counter to Echo.

yeah pj’s kekkei genkai is a great fit against echo. also, did binky and mustard just… forget… what pj’s routine is?
Yes, thank you, I thought that I was the only one who noticed the improv thing.

Honestly, I think if she IS a mole, vocally disagreeing with SQ wouldn’t be very smart.
But she’s voicing this opinion to a co-worker who also has issues with SQ’s decisions which makes her more relatable and believable. Besides what if she needs him to come alone? It’s a good excuse.
Did I binge read this entire series within a few weeks? Maybe. I do hope PJ gets his routine down to where he can control it.
