Okay, this I didn’t see coming. The second that he said invincible, I knew that it was bull. From here we can probably infer that either one, she’s snapped out of her control, or two; this is normal for them and she’s had her own reasons for following him outside of his conspiracy theory all this time.
what if he’d told her that mustard had her killed, and that he’d had to sew up her mouth for her survival somehow? so now she’s taking his lying tongue?
For me, it was the “I’m sure you’ve always thought of me…” bit. Taking for granted that others think you’re great is dangerous, especially when working with people as dangerous as Echo.
Ringmaster is looking a lot less cigar chewy on this page. Maybe it’s because he acts differently towards his underlings. Or maybe it’s because the cigar fell out of his mouth.
I get the feeling that Echo has just snapped out of some sort of brainwash.
Perhaps she just realized that she has a sister!
Whatever her motives, The Ringmaster isn’t going to enjoy the fallout, apparently.
My theory: Since Oates was able to snap out of the brainwashing with a moment of shared humanity, I bet something similar happened between Echo and Mustard, and Echo is no longer under his control. We will probably see soon.
It occurs to me that i like binky’s lack of eyes better than those ungodly humongous eyeballs mustard’s undead sister got.
Then again she might be actually perfectly alive and just caffeinated so badly her eyelids kind of tucked away behind her eyeballs by now.
OH NO! His source of power!
Hmm, I’m actually curious if Echo DID “die” but she had a mutation level property like Strongman and came back, albeit “incomplete”
It’s both incredibly baffling and completely expected that he’d expect the girl whose life he stole and mouth he presumably sewed shut to *help* him after finally seeing him in a moment of helplessness. He just cannot conceive of anything not going his way or anyone looking down on him. That’s the way it often is with bullies, and people born into wealth.
Yee, rip that silver tongue of his out! Totally not promoting murder.
Echo: Long live the Ringmistress!
Clown got your tongue?
bahahahahahahaha!

Or perhaps the Ringmaster is just a master of one ring, and Echo is adhering to something much, much higher in the Shadow Circuis?

I think it’s because we can see his eyes now.
I would do the same tbh

Feels weird to see him without his glasses
Ringmaster feels very…done as a villain. Echo…Echo still has a fight destined to come up…

Dab Nab it! I stopped reading back in November and now I caught up again! I will see you all tomorrow night!

“I’m sure you always thought of me as invincible.”
Yeah, Gus, I… think you’re right.
