Howdy, read the whole thing in the past few days and loving every second. The punchlines? Excellent. The goofs? Goofy. The drama? Oh so dramatic. Cannot wait for more. Ooo also came here via the tumblr post with the previews, very effective!
Cant wait to keep reading, will our clown kids turn vigilante in the face of paramilitary security for rich people. Will the true spirit of clowning survive????

I really love how “home” and “freedom of thought” are conveyed with colors in flashbacks, while the loss of self is represented as shades of gray.

Which makes me sad that all of Bout’s flashbacks are in black and white.

Nice to see how Ollie found his clown calling. Still he’s just a little kid in the flashback so should he receive a warning from the police ?

Nope, historically police do not treat little kids well, especially poor little kids. Ask the hundreds that have been killed by police in the past year if you have a Ouija board.

Maybe I’m being unfair, but I can imagine that there were a few turbulent seconds between the last picture and the one before it. For example:
    “May I ask why?”
“Sure, little buddy! It’s just too dangerous for the elderly!”
“FUCK the elderly! ACAB!” (tries to kick the cop in the fork, is too slow and gets handcuffed…)
    “Ah, what?”

Police officers are trained to escalate if their authority is questioned, so I can absolutely believe a cop would handcuff a kid for asking questions (also this is one reason school resource officers are generally a bad idea)

I’m sure that the bulldozer didn’t come by while Ollie was in mid-air, also.

Ollie is what, 8 here? The guy also decided to become what is essentially a superhero firefighter. I think we can afford to be charitable and assume he didn’t pick a screaming fight with a cop.

Well, he WAS shouting at the dean, wasn’t he? After all, the dean is the last authority figure in the Corps, so Ollie is definiteley not afraid of those…

something about this comic generally makes me think it’s not gonna go “this cop was correct in handcuffing the 8 year old”. aside from the fact that it’d also be less funny than the smashcut overreaction (which cops love to do btw. the overreacting not the smashcuts) shown here.

As we all know Cops never react aggressively to their authority being questioned

There have been a lot of comments complimenting that middle row and i am also joining in on that because it’s just, really, really good.

Damn, this is starting to look like a villain origin story. He could have ended up as a slightly cooler version of keg guy.

Everywhere outside is private property; some places will let you in if you pay them, but you don’t have the money.

You can stay inside and spend time with friends virtually, but people will look down on you for not going outside like they did as kids, when more places tolerated kids playing on their property.

Regarding the last panel: There seems to be a learned reaction (for reference: https://clowncorps.net/comic/chapter-2-page-21/)
