Also, Bout, buddy, the phrase is “free rein”. I know “free reign” looks better on the page and subtly conveys that they’re taking advantage of the sovreignty McBell is channeling as an officer of the law, and they sound the same out loud so who cares . . . but c’mon man, you don’t use homophones around someone with medium awareness, that’s just asking to be (further) derailed.

I have to be honest, I genuinely did not expect McBell to do this.

I mean, it’s realistic if you think about it, but I thought that her old friends had already served their narrative purpose and if she ever went back to her thieving ways, it wouldn’t be with them, you know?
