Of course, she could’ve kept her sister’s grave and herself dry, but this is just one of a very long series of acts of self-flagellation, I’m guessing.
It also feels like the kind of thing that would be a joke in a circus. Look at the clown, sharing her umbrella with someone who doesn’t need it and getting herself all wet in the process…
…but with the context of who she’s sharing it with, it’s not quite so funny. I love how this comic plays with the clown theme
Here I am, a recovering caulrophobe, and I’m really wanting to give several clowns here hugs.
I guess it’s true what they say about those clowns with single tears under one eye – it’s a reminder that while they’re bright and cheery on the outside, they’re crying on the inside, just like everyone else.
I’m looking back at page 104, and the symbolism is really getting me. The whole reason Morgan picked an umbrella as a weapon was to commemorate how she failed to shelter her sister. But then, when Maggie actually popped up again, Morgan’s response was to swing that umbrella right at her sister’s face. It really shows how lost “Dark Mustard” was in her own desperation, and how good Maggie is at getting under her skin. Sometimes old habits catch us when we’re off-balance.
If only the tech whizzes down at the Pinfall Science Center could invent a way to beam this memory directly into Echo’s head. I don’t think she’s in much of a listening mood right now.
I know she and her sister had their differences, but making such a promise like that at the expense of her own dreams and happiness. Now realizing that her own sister is alive and hating her more than ever. Really makes me wonder what’s Mustard fate now after all these years ?
“To truly laugh, you must be able to take your pain, and play with it.”
― Charlie Chaplin
That her colour scheme and even the umbrella have this level of symbolism for her is so spot on with how many things in clown work go.
Joe, idk how you’re so freaking spot on all the time here. But you’ve impressed the hell out of this clown with this whole comic (I may have just binge-read the thing).
Damn it Echo, can’t you see your sis was *trying*!!
Did we know their last name was Lee? I feel like that’s new information but I could just be dumb. I’m sure it was said somewhere else.
Yeah, we’ve seen the gravestone before and I think it was on Morgan’s answering machine too.
Gravestone: Ch5p19
Answering machine: Ch6p75
Apparently also ch6p112: https://clowncorps.net/comic/chapter-6-page-112/
Poignant.

Not a copycat, huh? That’s… interesting, considering Echo’s specialty.

oh……. and that’s why she uses an umbrella…… oh …. ough…..
SO THAT’S WHY THE UMBRELLA 🤯

What for you bury me in the cold, cold ground?
ohhh OOF. this somehow hit me way harder than the previous page. the Symbolism…

I really feel like “Vesti la Giubba” should be the shared theme song of the entire freaking cast at this point.
