In reply to Phasma Felis. I mean the skill was just folding the balloons really fast. Summoning them was stated (or speculated at least) to be a tech thing in the talk at the end of chapter 4. Where they were stored before use is anyone's guess though.

Checking the comics referenced in the hover text! I’m still unclear how sleepfighting is an uncopyable mutant power, but summoning a 50-foot balloon golem from nothing is a skill that anyone could theoretically learn.
