Wait a minute. Fan theory: Every time we see a panel without McBell in it, it’s actually a fantasy playing out in her head. This entire comic is just a weird fantasy she’s having. In reality they’re all just ordinary clowns.

… Judging by how the Director reacted when Binky came in with that news — shocked by the intrusion, but cutting him off with no reaction when he mentioned who the mole was — because she’s already done a good enough job demonstrating it to satisfy the Director. She could still be faking and feeding them just enough information to make it convincing, but this doesn’t appear to be a spur-of-the-moment decision that she’s acting in good faith.

I was definitely going to say they misread the page

I just meant she was in clown college by that point. I went ahead and adjusted the dialogue to hopefully be less confusing! (This is a courtesy reply so it doesn’t look like you misread the page lol)

so, wait, oats was a trainee, second week on the job, per chapter 1, right? so did they find her the previous week? if she was barely even in the shadow circus, why did she stick with them after they shot her with a freaking rocket launcher?
