Okay, so the mime is a robot probably maybe. Neat!
I’m kinda wondering if the bad guys’ plan is to get a bunch of combat data with which to sell weaponized clown powers. Kind of a “literalize the commodification of cartoon violence” sort of deal? This comic is both meta enough about superheroes and clowning to maybe go for that, and good enough that I expect the reveal wouldn’t wind up cringey from a reader perspective. (It might look cringey in-universe, but only if it makes for a better joke.)

Also: It turns out “has opinions about its’ own genre” is actually a decent (if not perfect) search criteria for “stories I like”. Huh.
