I liked the tragic character of this interaction. Binky is direct and open with Bout about his worries and suspicions, trying to do what he can to protect Bout from getting burned in the spite move by the mayor, and he can’t convince Bout because the truth will only further hurt his already damaged pride. Bout is doomed whether Binky leaves him to misunderstand the situation or whether Binky tries to convince him that the Mayor is setting him up to fail. That’s some good realistic “damned if you do damned if you don’t” situation writing.
Yeah this previously happened with Fusica’s back story too. That time Joe said it was because of the gravity of the situation. I believe this is a similar case.
That’s such a good execution of character driven miscommunication-tragedy but MAN does it still feel bad to watch play out. Billy needs to use his words so much better if he wants David to actually get what he’s trying to do.
Dreading the moment later down the line when Bout needs to call his Dad and can’t anymore 😭
Please don’t kill one of em for tragedy stemming from dispute, I’d cry :C
thank you, alt text, for reminding us all what this thing was. you’re right, i *have* forgotten stuff that was established on 4/13 2020
gonna admit that i saw 4/13 and had my mind travel to far more… darker places…
4/13 you say? I remember 4/13 2020. I was stuck at home.
I’m sorry, HOW LONG AGO?!
But, but, but, barbecue!
I think Binky might want to watch more paint dry. Maybe Bout should try that too.
Don’t know if this is going to last or if it’s just for these panels but now Bout’s eyes are closed and Binky’s are open. PARALLELS.
Good lord… Binky with his eyes open for the rest of the comic… We’re not ready for this..!!!!!
SYMBOLISM
I was gonna question with theories about why Binky was goading his son, but I could never find the time.
I was content to just watch.

Binky tried using his admin powers, but Bout just left to play in another server.
Talk about turning down a good offer for barbecue. Also, PJ knows this is hurting his dad inside, but he made his decision.
PJ? Do you mean Bout?
That is exactly who I meant. Bout not PJ.
Chekhov’s emergency alert watch alert!
Anybody else notice there wasn’t any mouseover text on the previous three pages?

Not the emergenc watch!
